Negi penned a heartfelt note on Insta saying, "Operation Sindoor left me feeling overwhelmed, in a way that's hard to describe. I felt proud. That we did the right thing, and did it with focus, clarity, and courage."           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Asha Negi (@ashanegi) She added that she has not been feeling herself for the last few days, and this made her wonder what our soldiers, who are defending our borders, must be going through. "The last few days though, have been heavy. I found myself feeling a little lonely, which is rare for me." "And if it felt this heavy for us, just sitting in our homes, watching updates, I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like for our soldiers on the frontlines. Or for the families and people who live around the LOC. Their strength, their courage is beyond anything we can put into words", Negi added. Expressing her relief post the ceasefire, she wrote, "When the ceasefire news came in, there was finally a sense of relief. I stepped out and bumped into my neighbor, he said they were celebrating and distributing sweets in the garden." Harshvardhan Rane slams Sanam Teri Kasam co-star Mawra Hocane

Harshvardhan slams Sanam Teri Kasam co-star Mawra Hocane for 'PR strategy’ dig

Harshvardhan Rane stepping down from doing Sanam Teri Kasam 2 if the cast remains the same was one of the biggest news stories in the entertainment world. While he didn't mention that he was particularly talking about co-star and Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane, she criticized him and labeled his actions as a "PR strategy," leading Harshvardhan Rane to hit back at her. Harshvardhan Rane hits back at Mawra After Mawra put out an Instagram story in a lengthy note calling out Harshvardhan Rane for putting out "a PR statement to get attention," he hit back at her for the personal attack. In his Instagram stories, he wrote, "That sounded like an attempt at a personal attack. Fortunately, I have the tolerance to overlook such attempts — but have zero tolerance for any attack on my nation's dignity." “An Indian farmer would pluck out the unwanted weed from his crop. It's called WEEDING. The farmer doesn’t need a PR team for this act. It's called common sense. I simply offered to step down from Part 2. I am fully within my rights to choose not to work with individuals who label my country's actions as 'cowardly'," he further continued. Harshvardhan concluded his note saying, "So much hate in her speech, so many personal remarks. I never mentioned her name or resorted to calling her names. I didn’t attack her dignity as a woman. I intend to maintain that standard.” Mawra Hocane's remark: "Look around you, look at what’s going on! We could all hear explosions… children in my country died due to an unjustified, cowardly attack, innocent lives are lost, and after multiple attempts to still maintain grace and peace, a befitting response by my armed forces has caused a frenzy in your country last night. While our nations are at war, this is what you come up with? A PR statement to get attention? What a pity! I’ve always shown respect, love, and gratitude for everyone I’ve worked with, and I’ll continue to do so. I was offered to collaborate, and I did. I’ll never spew hate like you just did," Mawra Hocane said while reacting to the news of Harshvardhan Rane stepping down from Sanam Teri Kasam 2 if there is a chance for the old cast to come together. Slamming Rane for using the war for his personal benefit, Mawra added, "Making such announcements at this volatile time, it’s both shameful and bizarre to see you so hungry and desperate. Our countries have been at WAR… two nuclear countries have been at war. This is not the time to discuss films, to mock one another, or to bring each other down. Only goes to show your ignorance in such a sensitive situation. I guess it’s not just your news media that’s gone bonkers. If throwing all the respect away and using my name after nine years is getting you the headlines, you might be surrounded by the wrong team. You just DO NOT use war for your personal benefit. So many lives lost… it’s a grave situation, you’ve fallen from grace for nothing!”

Have you heard? Border 2 revives Sandese Aate Hai

Bringing back India’s favourite patriotic song Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh The makers of Border 2, the sequel to Border (1997), have reportedly acquired the rights to the iconic song Sandese aate hain for an undisclosed record sum, reimagining it as Sandese aate hai 2.0 with Sonu Nigam and Arijit Singh lending their voices. Reports suggest that the song will be picturised on Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, and Diljit Dosanjh, among others, and will serve as a tribute to the Indian Army. We have learnt that  the new version will seamlessly blend the original with a modern touch, retaining the evocative essence of the timeless song. The film, directed by Anurag Singh and produced by JP Dutta, Bhushan Kumar, and Nidhi Dutta, is touted to be India’s biggest war film and is slated for release on Republic Day 2026. With the shooting currently in full swing, the makers aim to wrap it up by August. The film is set against the backdrop of the 1971 India-Pakistan War. ‘I thought I am terrible, not made for cinema’ Vijay Sethupathi and Anurag Kashyap Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, might be bitter about his experience in Bollywood in the last few years, but he is loving working in the South Indian film industry after shifting to Bengaluru. He recently opened up about his stint with acting, particularly in South Indian films, and loving it. At a recent event he credited Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi for convincing him to act in Maharaja (2024). The filmmaker-turned-actor recalled, “He [Vijay] said there’s this amazing story.... Then I said, ‘Listen, I have to get my daughter [Aaliyah Kashyap] married, and I don’t think I can afford it.” Anurag shared that at this point Vijay told him, “We’ll help you,” and that’s how Maharaja happened. Anurag revealed that he initially considered himself “terrible” and “not made for cinema” as an actor, but has since enjoyed acting, especially during the current filmmaking crisis. His breakthrough in acting came after he acted in Sonakshi Sinha’s Akira (2016) to pay off debts, jokingly calling himself the “highest paid unpaid debut actor”. When Shatrughan Sinha was told he can’t afford Rs 60 rent Javed Akhtar and Shatrughan Sinha In mid-day’s latest episode of Sit with Hitlist, veteran  screenwriter and lyricist Javed Akhtar revealed that when he first came to Mumbai, he shared a small room with a person for a monthly rent of R120 while he was struggling to making ends meet in the city. He also shared that Shatrughan Sinha, who was also trying to make a career in films, approached him to share the room. However, Akhtar jokingly refused, saying, “Pagal ho tum? Har mahine tum Rs 60 de sakoge? Impossible.” Akhtar, however, admitted that he had noticed Shatrughan’s confidence and style that would make him a star. Akhtar and Shatrughan went on to collaborate films as part of the screenwriting duo Salim (Khan)–Javed, including Dostana (1980), Kaala Patthar (1979), Kranti (1981), and Zamana (1985). These films showcased the actor in key roles alongside Amitabh Bachchan and others. Dostana 2 comes home Vikrant Massey; SreeLeela and Lakshya Karan Johar had announced in 2019 that they were making Dostana 2, the sequel to Priyanka Chopra, John Abraham, and Abhishek Bachchan’s Dostana (2008), with Kartik Aaryan, Lakshya, and Janhvi Kapoor. However, the project did not go through. Now we have learnt that Advait Chandan will helm the project, which will reportedly directly release on Amazon Prime Video. mid-day had earlier reported that the film will have a fresh cast, with Vikrant Massey replacing Kartik, and Lakshya, with Sreeleela expected to play the female lead (After old fight, new friends, May 6). Reports also suggest that the script is being written to suit the dramedy.

Zaeden and Anuv Jain celebrate collaboration, embracing diversity in music

Can contrast lead to harmony? Singers Zaeden and Anuv Jain believe so. On the surface, the two artistes couldn’t be more different — Zaeden, the beatmaker, and Jain, the lyrical storyteller whose songs feel like whispers of confessions. But as the two performed together at the House of McDowell’s Soda Yaari Jam in Pune on May 10, it was a celebration of contrasts and camaraderie. Zaeden, who set foot in the world of music in 2014 as a DJ, found a deeper resonance with songwriting. “Now, I don’t want people to just dance; I want them to feel,” he told mid-day, days before their performance. In that pursuit, he arguably has the best collaborator in Jain, whose numbers are all about feelings. Jain added, “It’s brilliant that Zaeden and I are performing because the audience gets to experience a broad spectrum of music.” Expressing his enthusiasm about collaborating with the Husn hitmaker, Zaeden shared, “Anuv's music has this raw vulnerability that connects instantly. The contrast in our music styles makes this collaboration interesting.” The diversity doesn’t just make for a compelling stage presence. It mirrors the growing inclusivity of the Indian music scene. “Artistes are no longer following a formula; we’re creating new lanes. What’s [remarkable] is that there’s space for all of it: vulnerability, groove, storytelling, even experimentation,” reflected Zaeden. His career has taken him beyond India’s borders, as he collaborated with Yves V and Jermaine Fleur for the track, Something like. But that never meant losing touch with his roots. “Working with global names opened me up to different ways of thinking about sound and culture. But no matter where I go, I always bring a bit of home into my sound,” he stated. Meanwhile, Jain has built his career on his lived-in experiences. Often referred to as the “boy who sings feelings”, does he feel boxed? “I don’t feel boxed at all. Writing about feelings gives me a lot of material. The only way your experiences can limit you is when you have decided how much you would give away. There are certain things that you want to keep to yourself; you have to find the line.”
