Senior actors Paresh Rawal and Nana Patekar are known for their versatility and have worked together in multiple films. Off-screen, they share a great camaraderie. Recently, the Hera Pheri actor revealed an incident that made him appreciate Nana even more. Paresh lauded Nana’s fearless and no-nonsense personality while recalling the time the Krantiveer actor made a producer wash dishes.

Paresh Rawal narrates hilarious Nana Patekar incident

Speaking to The Lallantop, Paresh Rawal shared how Nana Patekar made a producer do the dishes after having a meal with him.

“There was this producer—I won’t name him. Nana told him to come home one day. He asked, ‘Do you eat mutton?’ The producer said yes. After the meal, Nana said, ‘You ate, right? Now go and wash the dishes.’ That is Nana Patekar—baap hai. He’s built different, made from a different mold,” said Paresh Rawal.

Rawal also spoke about how straightforward Nana Patekar is, especially when it comes to demanding the fees he believes he deserves. He recalled how the actor once demanded Rs 1 crore for a film at a time when even leading actors wouldn’t ask for that much. “Even lead heroes didn’t ask for that much. But Nana asked for it—and got it,” he added.

He further emphasized that if an artist truly connects with a film or the filmmaker, they might not even charge a rupee. But if they’re not interested, no amount of money will convince them to take the role.

“Nana Patekar is like that! He was the first character actor to demand Rs 1 crore for a role. Even lead actors didn’t ask for that much back then. But Nana Patekar did—and he got it.”

The two veteran actors have shared screen space in films such as Krantiveer (1994), Ghulam-e-Mustafa (1997), Aanch (2003), Welcome (2007), and Welcome Back (2015).
