"Punjabi aa gaye oye," Diljit Dosanjh has proved this line true every time he made a new benchmark, and on Monday, Diljit turned heads as he walked the blue carpet at the Met Gala 2025. His outfit showcased a blend of Punjabi royalty with a modern vision.

What’s written on Diljit’s cape?

While the entire social media was buzzing over his look, our eyes were struck by the text printed on the back of his cape. The singer’s outfit featured a long cape which had a few letters written in Punjabi, and we decided to dig a little and get more information for you all. So basically, he had Punjab's map printed on the back of his outfit. Along with it, the text written was the Punjabi alphabet — 35 letters of the Punjabi language, just as there are 26 in English.

About Diljit Dosanjh’s Met Gala look

Dressed like a Maharaja, Diljit made heads turn in a custom Prabal Gurung outfit. He wore traditional attire — a turban (a symbol of Sikh identity), a kurta, and a tehmat (a long tunic and draped bottoms). Proudly flaunting his Punjabi culture on a global platform, the 'Naina' hitmaker elevated his outfit with accessories and a sword. His outfit also featured a long cape.

If reports are to be believed, Diljit wore exquisite jew ellery sourced from Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala's legendary Cartier collection. Met Gala 2025 marked Diljit's debut at Hollywood's biggest fashion night. Interestingly, he became the first turbaned actor-singer to debut at the Met Gala.

Fans hail Diljit’s look

As soon as the actor’s look came out, fans started hailing his ode to his culture. One wrote, “He understood the assignment.” “He literally ate the look,” another commented. A third fan wrote, “Giving MAHARAJA, not costume. Just culture. UNTOUCHABLE.”

More Indian’s at the Met Gala 2025

Apart from Diljit, the Indian stars who were present at the Met Gala this year were Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kiara Advani, Isha Ambani, and Manish Malhotra. While Shah Rukh Khan debuted in Sabyasanchi, Kiara Advani wore custom Gaurav Gupta. The actress turns heads as she flaunts her baby bump
