Chhaya Kadam has been dominating headlines for all the right reasons for quite some time, but it looks like things have changed as the Laapataa Ladies star is now creating buzz for claiming to have tasted the meat of protected wild species including mouse deer, rabbits, wild boar, monitor lizard, and porcupine. It is now said that Kadam will face legal action, as the forest department is preparing to launch an inquiry.

Chhaya Kadam in legal trouble

As per FPJ's report, the forest department has formed a team to track down those who helped Kadam obtain the meat. Rakesh Bhoir, the investigating officer in the case, shared with the portal, “We got in touch with Kadam over the phone, where she informed us that she is out of town for a professional trip and will return only after four days. She has informed us she is seeking legal advice and will appear before us for the investigation.”

“Based on the video interview Kadam gave to a radio channel, we will track down the poachers in the area where the alleged activity took place and ensure that strict action is taken against the culprits,” another officer said on condition of anonymity.

NGO files complaint

Earlier, a Mumbai-based NGO, Plant and Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), had also decided to take the legal route against Kadam. The NGO alerted the Conservator of Forests and Divisional Forest Officer in Thane, requesting them to take strict action against the All We Imagine As Light actress and others involved in the illegal activity.

The NGO, in their request, claimed that Chhaya's statement can spread a dangerous message to the public, especially her fans, and also that it amounts to an offense under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. PAWS further urged officials to apply relevant provisions of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002, and treat the interview as a self-admission of guilt.
