Hannah Oh
Born in Korea and raised in New Zealand, Hannah Oh’s design journey has always been global in its outlook and interdisciplinary at its core. Today, she is a Boston-based design strategist working at the intersection of human-centered research, service design, and strategic innovation. From her early career in fashion to her current work in design strategy, Hannah brings a thoughtful, research-driven approach to solving real-world problems.
A Multidimensional Creative Journey
Hannah’s career began in fashion design at MCM, a German luxury brand, where she worked across trend research, color development, and product design. Designing for global markets helped her build a strong foundation in craft and intuition, while working in a fast-paced, culturally connected environment.
Over time, Hannah became increasingly interested in the broader impact of design - beyond physical products - and how design thinking could influence systems, experiences, and businesses. This curiosity led her to pursue a Master of Science in Engineering and Management at MIT’s Integrated Design & Management (IDM) program, where she focused on human-centered design, design strategy, and entrepreneurship, with a new understanding that great research leads to great design - and great design leads to great businesses.
Designing for Complexity at Other Tomorrows
Today, Hannah works at Other Tomorrows, an independent strategy studio based in Boston. Her work spans industries including healthcare, sustainability, and finance, where she applies early-stage research, service blueprinting, and systems thinking to complex challenges.
One recent project she worked on was with The Footwear Collective, a nonprofit initiative spun out of MIT. The project brought together 11 leading footwear brands - including New Balance, On Running, and Target - to collaboratively design circular economy systems. Hannah worked closely with the team to design and facilitate the kickoff workshops and build design strategy around the brand’s identity and collaboration efforts.
Investing in the Next Generation of Designers
Outside of client work, Hannah is deeply committed to supporting and growing the design community. She serves as the Sponsorship Chair for the Boston Chapter of the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), where she helps build partnerships and strengthen community engagement.
In addition to her leadership work, Hannah has been active in education, sharing her expertise with students at Wentworth Institute of Technology and Northeastern University. Most recently, she taught a session on Design Strategy for graduate students in the Human Factors Engineering program at Tufts University, emphasizing the importance of research, systems thinking, and storytelling.
She also co-facilitated a workshop at the Harvard x Design Conference titled "Service Design in an Uncertain World," guiding participants through how design practices can build resilience in unpredictable environments.
A Philosophy of Lifelong Exploration
Throughout her career, Hannah has remained committed to evolving her practice - bridging craft, strategy, and research to create more human-centered outcomes. One of her key strengths is staying deeply connected to culture and emerging trends, whether experimenting with new AI tools or studying how platforms like TikTok shape user behavior. This grounding in today’s cultural landscape ensures that her work remains both timely and relevant.
Whether designing products, services, or strategies, Hannah Oh approaches each challenge with a commitment to connection - to people, to systems, and to the opportunities ahead.
