In a major step towards preparing police officers for modern-day cyber threats, a one-day hands-on training program on cybersecurity hardware was held on 23rd April 2025 at the Police Training College (PTC), Medchal for officers from Hyderabad and nearby regions.

The session was led by Mr. Sandeep Avutapalli, Chief Technology Officer of Skillvedha Innovations Private Limited. He introduced and demonstrated a wide range of hardware tools used by cybercriminals today - including devices like the Flipper Zero, Rubber Ducky, Wi-Fi Pineapple, HackRF One, and many others. These tools are often used for hacking, surveillance, data theft, and network attacks.

More importantly, Mr. Sandeep explained how each tool works, how they are misused, and how police can recognize and counter them during investigations. Officers got the chance to interact with the devices directly, making it a rare and valuable learning experience.

The session received active participation from SPs, DSPs, and other senior officials from the Hyderabad Police Department, all of whom appreciated the practical, easy-to-understand approach and hands-on exposure provided during the session.

The program began with a powerful keynote address by Mr. Prameel Arjun, a seasoned cybersecurity expert, thought leader, and mentor to the Skillvedha team. Known for his work in cyber policy, law enforcement training, and digital risk management, Mr. Prameel shared valuable insights into the growing need for cyber readiness within the police force.

Sri P. Madhukar Swamy, Superintendent of Police and Principal of PTC Medchal, praised the young trainer, saying: “In this digital age, we need young minds like Sandeep to train our forces. They bring a new perspective and help our officers stay updated with emerging cyber threats. We need more such collaborations to make our policing more effective.”

Sri K. Vijay Kumar, DSP and Vice Principal of PTC Medchal, felicitated Mr. Sandeep and his team - CH Vivek Reddy, M Abhinay, N Lahari, and M Preethi - for their effort in making the session interactive and impactful.

What resonated deeply with attendees was the inspiring story behind Skillvedha Innovations Private Limited - a startup founded by two young engineers, Dhanush Kumar Marrapu and Sandeep Avutapalli, with a clear mission: to empower students with cutting-edge skills and give them opportunities to earn and grow.

Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Dhanush Kumar, Chief Operating Officer of Skillvedha, shared: “We started Skillvedha with a simple vision - to create a platform where learning meets opportunity. Our goal is not just to train students in technology but to help them build real-world confidence, become financially independent, and prepare for future careers. Sessions like this with the police force allow us to contribute meaningfully to society while also showcasing the power of practical learning. It's a proud moment for us.”

Skillvedha’s approach - captured in its tagline “Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow” - continues to gain attention across educational and government institutions. More about their initiatives can be found at www.skillvedha.com.

This session was part of the larger T-SHIELD initiative (Telangana – Security Hub for Innovation in Enforcement & Lawful Digital Defense) - a first-of-its-kind cybersecurity hardware lab for law enforcement in Telangana, set up at PTC Medchal in collaboration with Skillvedha.

With such a positive response, more sessions are planned soon to train officers across different levels. This is just the beginning of a powerful partnership between tech innovators and law enforcement - working together to keep our society safe in the digital age.
