The journey of electric traction in India began on February 3 in 1925
The Central Railway was then called as Great Indian Peninsula Railway
It had launched the first electric train (EMU) between Bombay Victoria Terminus (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus) and Kurla Harbour
It covered a distance of 16 kms
On the 100 years of Electrification, a series of celebratory events were organised that reflected on the past, present, and future of Indian Railways
