Red Bull's Max Verstappen clinched pole position for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, clocking a lap record time of 1 minute 27.294 seconds. He edged out McLaren's Oscar Piastri by one-hundredth of a second.

"Simply lovely! I definitely didn't expect to be on pole here," said a beaming Verstappen. Meanwhile, Championship leader Lando Norris crashed his McLaren in Q3 to settle for a 10th place grid start.
