Indian badminton player Jwala Gutta welcomes a baby girl

Indian badminton player Jwala Gutta and her husband, actor Vishnu Vishal, have been blessed with a baby girl on April 22.

The actor shared the news of his new born on his official social media handle which read, "We are blessed with a BABY GIRL.. Aryan is an elder brother now...Its our 4th wedding anniversary today...On the same day we welcome this gift from the Almighty...😍 Need all your love and blessings....😍😍 @jwalagutta1 😍😍".

Gutta married Vishal on April 22, 2021, in Hyderabad.

Representing India, Jwala Gutta has won bronze medals in the 2011 London World Championships, 2014 New Delhi and 2016 Kunshan Uber Cups, 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games and 2014 Gimcheon Asian Championships.

The veteran also bagged gold medals in the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games, South Asian Championships in 2004 Islamabad (Women's doubles), (Mixed Doubles), (Women's team), 2006 Colombo (Mixed Doubles) and (Women's team).

In 2011, she was also honoured with the "Arjuna award" by the Indian government. It is India's second-highest sporting honour.

Born in Wardha, Maharashtra, Jwala Gutta was initially attracted to playing tennis before shifting to badminton. At the age of four, her father introduced her to the national badminton coach S. M. Arif.

The coach recommended that she learn gymnastics and swimming before starting her training for badminton. She later began her training sessions under Arif at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium.

Her achievement as a youngster was when she won the Under-13 Girls Mini National Badminton Championship held at Thrissur, Kerala. In 2000, at the age of 17, she clinched the title of the Junior National Badminton Championship. In the same year, she won the Women's Doubles Junior National Championship and the Senior National Badminton Championship, both in partnership with Shruti Kurien.

Later, after parting ways with Kurien, Jwala partnered up with Ashwini Ponnappa before the Commonwealth Games. From there on, her career took an inclination to represent India at international events across the globe.
