At the time, when GT was nearing the victory, premier all-rounder Rashid Khan received a controversial LBW-out. According to the fans, most part of the delivery was missing the stumps line and later, a close look at the area of the ball pitched was also not projected on the big screen

After continuous rain interruption in the match, the match reached the stage where the hosts (MI) were put in a situation where they needed to defend a total of 15 runs in one over, following the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern method (DLS method)

With Deepak Chahar gripping the ball, the Hardik Pandya-led MI fell short of sealing the victory against GT. Rahul Tewatia and Gerald Coetzee accumulated the required runs by smashing boundaries at the crucial time
