New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori won the toss and elected to bat in the fifth and final one-day international against India on Friday.
India, leading 4-0 in the series, brought in paceman Munaf Patel to give pace spearhead Zaheer Khan some rest ahead of a gruelling tour of South Africa starting later this month.
New Zealand also made one change, replacing Andy McKay with Grant Elliot.
