Amid rising tensions following the recent deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Line of Control has once again seen a flare-up. Late on the night of May 3rd and into the early hours of May 4th, the Pakistan Army opened unprovoked small arms fire across several areas along the LoC. These included Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajauri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor in Jammu and Kashmir. According to officials, the Indian Army responded promptly and in a controlled, proportionate manner. This marks the tenth consecutive day of Indian retaliation, following repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistan. A similar incident took place the night before, on May 2nd and 3rd, with firing reported in Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Naushera, and Akhnoor sectors. The Indian Army has maintained that all responses have been calibrated and effective, ensuring no escalation while strongly defending against provocation. Tensions remain high along the LoC, with security forces on full alert.
