In a major escalation along the Line of Control (LoC) and international border, Pakistan launched a large-scale drone attack on India during the night of May 8–9. The Indian Army and Air Defence units responded swiftly, shooting down over 50 Pakistani drones in a massive counter-drone operation. Pakistani forces attempted to send swarm drones across multiple locations, targeting areas including Udhampur, Samba, Jammu, Akhnoor, Nagrota, and Pathankot in Jammu and Kashmir. However, the Indian Army successfully intercepted the threats using L-70 guns, Zu-23mm, Schilka systems, and other advanced counter-UAS equipment. India`s response was firm and decisive, also targeting Pakistani drones, missiles, and aircraft. The retaliation came after the Indian Air Force conducted precision strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on May 7, under `Operation Sindoor.` These airstrikes were in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. The Indian military has demonstrated strong air defence capabilities, ensuring no major damage was caused by Pakistan’s attempted aggression.
