India-Pak Tension: Mock drill held at Srinagar’s Dal Lake after MHA directive

On May 6, SDRF personnel in Jammu and Kashmir conducted preparations for a large-scale mock drill at Srinagar’s Dal Lake, as part of a nationwide civil defence initiative. The Ministry of Home Affairs has instructed all states and Union Territories to hold coordinated mock drills on May 7, aimed at enhancing disaster response capabilities and public safety awareness. Officials said they received the drill directives just a day in advance, but teams were mobilized swiftly to ensure readiness. The exercise is designed to assess response time, coordination among agencies, and the effectiveness of available rescue infrastructure.
