Thousands of people, including schoolchildren and tourists, gathered from early morning to witness the event. Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth and senior defence and administrative officials were present at the show.

The performance featured a combination of composite and synchronisation phases by nine aircraft flying in tight formations. The jets executed thrilling low-altitude manoeuvres, with some flying as low as 100 feet above ground.

Spectators were treated to heart-shaped trails, barrel rolls, and intricate patterns that left the crowd awe-struck. On the first day of the event, only six aircraft performed, as three jets were slightly damaged due to Friday’s rain and hailstorms.

Formed in 1996, the Surya Kiran team has performed more than 700 shows in India and abroad, including in Sri Lanka, Myanmar, China, Singapore, and the UAE. The team operates under the IAF’s motto ‘Sadaiva Sarvottam’ (Always the Best), reflecting precision, discipline, and teamwork.

The event is part of the Indian Air Force’s outreach effort to inspire young people to take interest in aviation and the armed forces. A similar aerial showcase by the Surya Kiran team is scheduled to take place in Patna on 22nd and 23rd April.
