Around 40 houses were damaged due to the flood caused by an overflowing stream. Several vehicles were swept away in the sudden surge of water.

The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was shut from both directions after landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones struck nearly a dozen spots between Nashri and Banihal. The traffic department advised commuters not to travel along the highway until weather conditions improve and clearance operations are completed.

Heavy rainfall also lashed parts of Udhampur, further affecting the Ramban section of National Highway 44. The region had already experienced strong winds and rain on April 17, leading to structural damage and disruption to power and road connectivity.

In Udhampur, several trees were uprooted, roads blocked, and electricity supply affected across multiple areas. In Jammu, a portion of the Civil Secretariat’s boundary wall collapsed due to high winds, damaging parked vehicles.

A JCB machine was deployed to clear debris and restore access near the Civil Secretariat. The IMD had forecasted severe weather from April 18 to 20 due to an active western disturbance, prompting authorities to take preventive measures.
