Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav was also present at the occasion, underscoring the state's support for the CRPF. Traditionally observed on 19 March, CRPF Day marks the date in 1950 when the force was officially presented with its flag by then Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
This year, the celebrations were extended, with the official parade held on 17 April in recognition of the force’s longstanding service. Neemuch holds historical significance as the birthplace of the CRPF—it was here, on 27 July 1939, that the Crown Representative Police was formed under British rule.
The force was rechristened the Central Reserve Police Force on 28 December 1949, a move spearheaded by Home Minister Sardar Patel. Speaking at the event, Shah reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicating Naxalism from India by 31 March 2026, echoing a pledge made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He highlighted the pivotal role of the Central Armed Police Forces, particularly the CRPF and its elite CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) unit, in achieving this target. Shah praised the CRPF’s broad mandate, acknowledging its contributions to internal security, counter-insurgency efforts, VIP protection, disaster relief, and international peacekeeping missions.
The Minister lauded the force’s historic role in the integration of princely states post-Independence, showcasing its legacy in nation-building.

The 86th Raising Day celebrations reflected the enduring relevance and evolving responsibilities of one of India’s most respected paramilitary forces.
