PM Modi monitors Operation Sindoor overnight; all 9 targets successfully hit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi closely monitored Operation Sindoor through the night, according to sources quoted by news agency ANI.

The Indian armed forces successfully struck all nine intended targets in a coordinated operation aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure, sources told ANI. The strikes specifically targeted leadership elements of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba for their involvement in sponsoring terrorist activities against India.

Launched in the early hours of Wednesday, Operation Sindoor saw Indian forces hitting terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), from where several attacks on Indian soil have been planned and directed.

"Our actions have been focused, measured, and non-escalatory. No Pakistani military installations were targeted. India has shown significant restraint in both target selection and execution," the Ministry of Defence said in an official statement.

The Ministry added that the operation was a direct response to the "barbaric" terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national. The government reaffirmed its resolve to hold those responsible accountable.

The strikes employed precision weapon systems from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, including loitering munitions and successfully neutralised nine terror camps. All operations were conducted from Indian soil using coordinates provided by intelligence agencies, ANI sources confirmed.

Despite the limited scope and precision of India's actions, Pakistan violated the Ceasefire Agreement shortly after the strikes by firing artillery in the Bhimber Gali sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

In response, the Indian Army is said to be replying in a "calibrated and appropriate" manner. A statement from the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI) on X (formerly Twitter) read: "Pakistan again violates the Ceasefire Agreement by firing artillery in Bhimber Gali in the Poonch-Rajouri area. Indian Army is responding appropriately in a calibrated manner."

Retaliating against the Pahalgam terror attack, Indian armed forces on early Wednesday carried out missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, including the Jaish-e-Mohammad stronghold of Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba's base in Muridke.

The military strikes were conducted under Operation Sindoor two weeks after the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians.
