On Saturday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, stated that the Maharashtra government has taken all necessary security precautions, reported news agency PTI.

Further stressing the growing tensions, Chief Minister Fadnavis said, "Pakistan is a terrorist state. They have been supporting terrorism, but India won't stop. Under the leadership of PM Modi, our armed forces are giving a befitting response to Pakistan."

Following the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack, which claimed 26 lives, out of which 25 of them Indian and 1 from Nepal, in response to the attack India launched a counter-operation named ‘Operation Sindoor'. This mission targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, where several attacks on India were reportedly planned and directed. As part of this operation, nearly nine militant camps have been destroyed by Indian forces.

As the situation at the border deteriorates, several Indian states including Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Jammu & Kashmir remain on high alert and have ramped up security measures.

Meanwhile, across the border, Pakistan continues to carry out strikes on India. According to the Ministry of Defence, Pakistan has launched 26 retaliatory strikes across Indian territory.

When asked about the security readiness measures in Maharashtra, Fadnavis said that a review meeting was held in Mumbai on Friday, reported PTI.

Chief Minister Fadnavis made these comments while speaking to reporters in Alandi village, after taking darshan of Sant Dnyaneshwar.

Speaking to reporters, he added, "All security precautions have been taken in the state in the wake of the current situation. Security information has been shared with district units, and resources are being made available."

Fadnavis also said that the police, Coast Guard, and Navy are on high alert mode across Maharashtra, and that all Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) are being followed as per protocol, PTI reported.

Meanwhile, the senior BJP leader brushed off questions regarding the possibility of the two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) coming together.

"You should ask this either to Supriya Sule (working president of NCP-SP) or Ajit Pawar (who heads the other NCP faction). Why are you making me ‘Begani Shaadi Mein Abdullah Diwana?'" he remarked, using a Hindi proverb to downplay the political question, according to PTI.
