In the wake of rising tensions between India and Pakistan following the Indian Army's precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan, several airports in northern India have been temporarily closed, with flight services severely disrupted. Airlines, including SpiceJet, Indigo, Air India, and Air India Express, have issued advisories to inform passengers of the ongoing situation.
As per ANI reports, SpiceJet confirmed that airports in Dharamshala, Leh, Jammu, Srinagar, and Amritsar would remain closed until further notice due to the prevailing circumstances. In a post on social media platform X, the airline advised passengers to plan their travel accordingly and check the status of their flights before heading to the airport. "Due to the ongoing situation, airports in parts of northern India, including Dharamshala (DHM), Leh (IXL), Jammu (IXJ), Srinagar (SXR), and Amritsar (ATQ), are closed until further notice. Departures, arrivals, and consequential flights may be impacted," the airline's advisory stated.

Indigo Airlines also followed suit, announcing disruptions to flights to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, and Dharamshala. Passengers have been urged to confirm the status of their flights before reaching the airport. "Due to changing airspace conditions in the region, our flights to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, and Dharamshala are impacted. We request you to check your flight status before reaching the airport," said Indigo in their social media post. Additionally, flights to and from Bikaner have also been affected.
Air India and Air India Express have also cancelled numerous flights, including services to Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot, until noon on 7 May. Two international flights bound for Amritsar have been diverted to Delhi. Air India issued an apology for the inconvenience, encouraging passengers to check their flight details on their official website for updates.

The strikes followed the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the deaths of 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen. The Ministry of Defence has clarified that the operation was focused, measured, and non-escalatory, with no Pakistani military facilities being targeted.
In response, Pakistan violated the Ceasefire Agreement by firing artillery in the Bhimber Gali area of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch-Rajouri region, according to officials. The Indian Army is reportedly responding in a "calibrated manner."
As the situation continues to evolve, airlines have advised all passengers to stay updated on the status of their flights, and the closure of airports is expected to remain in effect until further notice.
