Others in the race are Rajya Sabha member Parsottam Rupala and Gujarat cabinet minister Nitin Patel.
In the absence of Anandiben, it is highly likely that the state might be handed over to Rupani, who is also a minister in Anandiben's cabinet. Incidentally, it is his birthday today.
He has been called for a meeting with BJP's parliamentary committee today morning.
