The Shraddhanjali Yatra gathered a large crowd at Shivaji Park, where people came together to pay tribute to the victims and express solidarity in the fight against terrorism.

The Pahalgam attack, which took place on Tuesday, 22nd April 2025, claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists, and is the deadliest in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama strike. The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), took responsibility for the attack.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has assumed control of the investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack, with officials confirming the start of their probe. The attack has drawn widespread global condemnation, with leaders and countries worldwide expressing their outrage and calling for justice.

US Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, expressed support for India, affirming that America stands with the country as it seeks justice for the victims of the attack. The US State Department also reiterated its solidarity, calling for the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack to face justice.

In response to the attack, India announced several diplomatic measures, including the expulsion of Pakistani military attaches. India also took the significant step of suspending the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960, marking the first time the country has used this measure to "inflict appropriate cost" on Pakistan. The Attari land-transit post was also shut down by India, as part of its strong response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
