Last month, a similar bridge was completed at the northern end, improving accessibility to the stadium from both sides
According to a Western Railway (WR) spokesperson, five steel girders, each spanning 41.80 metres, were launched for the Wankhede South foot overbridge between Churchgate and Marine Lines
The entire operation was carried out in just three hours, between 1.15 am and 4.15 am on April 20, using a 700-metric-tonne road crane, the Western Railway official said
The new bridge will enhance pedestrian connectivity amid the ongoing IPL season
The newly built bridge is expected to streamline pedestrian movement around Wankhede Stadium, particularly on match days, reducing congestion and ensuring a smoother experience for visitors
