Twenty-six tourists were killed after terrorists opened fire at them in Pahalgam, Jammu-Kashmir, on Tuesday. The incident sent shockwaves across the country.
Condemning the attack, CM Fadnavis said that the Central and the state governments are taking strict measures to curb such cowardly acts. He has also assured all possible support to the families of the victims and the injured.
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) workers on Wednesday staged protests in Nagpur, condemning the Pahalgam terrorist attack and blamed the Union government for 'failing to prevent it', news agency PTI reported.
The demonstration was held at the city's Variety Square.
In a symbolic protest, the activists broke bangles in front of placards with images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, reported PTI.
They also shouted slogans such as "Pakistan Murdabad".
The city chief of Shiv Sena (UBT), Nitin Tiwari, said Prime Minister Modi and Shah had talked about ending violence in Jammu-Kashmir after scrapping Article 370, but that has not happened.
The perpetrators of the Pulwama attack were still not arrested, he claimed, adding that the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 people died, was a failure of the Modi government.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) staged a protest in Nashik, during which they hit pictures of Pakistan's national flag and its prime minister with chappals and also burnt them.
"All political parties should come together and unite against terror. The government should also introspect as to how this attack took place,¿ said state MNS general secretary Dinkar Patil.
The party's Maharashtra Vice-President, Salim Sheikh, District President Ankush Pawar, Nashik President Sudam Kombde and others were present during the protest.
