Mumbaikars greeted the day early this Sunday, with the sun rising at 6:18 AM on April 20, 2025. While the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued no rainfall alert for the city, the ever-present humidity continues to cast a damp spell on residents hoping for a bit of weather relief.
As the summer sun steadily intensifies, today's weather offers no significant surprises but brings along familiar discomforts. Skies are expected to remain clear throughout the day, offering uninterrupted sunshine until sunset at 6:57 PM. Yet, while clear skies often spell pleasant weather, the persistent humidity means the day might feel warmer than the thermometer suggests.
Humidity levels are forecast to hover around 75 per cent throughout the day, only a marginal dip from yesterday morning's reading of 77 per cent. These conditions contribute to a sense of stickiness that many Mumbaikars have grown used to, particularly in the pre-monsoon stretch when humidity levels tend to stay elevated despite dry skies.
Temperature-wise, Mumbai recorded a minimum of 25.6 degrees Celsius on Saturday, with the mercury climbing to a high of 32.8 degrees. Today's forecast paints a similar picture, with expected highs of around 33 degrees Celsius and lows in the range of 27 degrees. The IMD has not predicted any showers for the day, and none are expected for the start of the week either.

The air quality, a concern that has slowly become part of daily conversations in the city, sits in the 'moderate' category with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 76. While this level is not considered hazardous, those with respiratory issues or heightened sensitivities might feel the effects of pollution. It's worth remembering that an AQI under 50 is categorised as âgood', whereas anything above 300 is considered severely hazardous.
Looking ahead to Monday, April 21, the city is expected to bask in more sunshine, with minimum and maximum temperatures remaining consistent at 27 and 33 degrees Celsius, respectively. Humidity levels are predicted to stay around 73 per cent, continuing the trend of warm and sticky conditions that have come to define Mumbai's April days.
For now, Mumbaikars are advised to stay hydrated, avoid peak sun hours if possible, and keep a check on the AQI if planning outdoor activities. The weather may be predictable, but in a city as dynamic as Mumbai, it's always good to stay prepared.
