More than 100 sweepers of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), cleaned up the Marine Drive area overnight from 11.30 pm to 8 am. The collected garbage included a significant amount of food wrappers, water bottles, bags, shoes, slippers and other items. From the collected garbage, around five jeeps filled up with shoes, slippers, and other recyclable items will be sent for recycling instead of being sent to the dumping ground.

Thousands of cricket fans were gathered at Marine Drive on Thursday to celebrate team India's victory parade of the T-20 Cricket World Cup 2024. There was a stampede-like situation at one point. After the crowd dispersed wastages like bottles, shoes, and sandals were all over the stretch. The team of 100 workers of Solid Waste Management of BMC worked overnight to clean the area so that morning walkers could use it. They collected two large dumpers and five small jeeps of waste from the area.
