From today, commuters can track the progress of BEST buses thanks to a new Google Maps feature. On Wednesday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the âBEST bus on Google Maps' service. "The new service will make travel easier for commuters," he said.
As per a statement by the chief minister's office, the technology-driven service will provide commuters with live updates regarding bus arrivals, routes and even delays, if any. Data for the service will be provided by the BEST administration to Google. Roli Agarwal, India head for partnerships, Google, said the service will be available in Marathi Hindi, and English.
According to a release, to use the service, one must open the Google Maps app on one's Android or iOS device. Then enter one's destination and tap the âGo' icon, and enter the âSource' and âDestination' locations. Select the âPublic Transport' mode (little tram icon) to view times, bus numbers, routes and real-time arrival information highlighted in green or red. Tapping a recommended result allows one to view more information on the route's stops. It is also possible to access real-time bus information.
