Ahead of the Maharashtra Day celebrations on May 1, Mumbai Police issued a preventive order on Monday, banning "all flying activities" in parts of central Mumbai, including the Shivaji Park area in Dadar, in light of heightened security concerns.
The preventive order, issued by Akbar Pathan, DCP (Operations), Mumbai Police said, "It is possible that, during the Ceremonial Parade and public programme on the occasion of Maharashtra Day at Shivaji Park, Dadar, Mumbai the terrorist / anti social elements may try to use the air space for breach of peace and disturbance of public tranquillity and there may be grave danger to the human life, safety and damage to public property."
The preventive order prohibits all flying activities within the jurisdictions of the Mahim, Shivaji Park, Dadar and Worli Police Stations on Maharashtra Day.
The order will remain in effect from 00:00 hours to 24:00 hours on May 1, 2025, unless withdrawn earlier. Violators will face penalties under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

"It is a routine preventive order issued on regular intervals by the police and during major events in the city," said an official.
In a related development, the Mumbai Traffic Police issued a notification on Saturday detailing traffic regulations in the Dadar area. The notification noted that, in connection with the Maharashtra Day parade at Shivaji Park, traffic restrictions would be enforced on all adjoining roads from 06:00 hours to 12:00 hours on May 1, 2025, to ensure the smooth functioning of the event. The traffic notification was issued by Samadhan Pawar, DCP, (H.Q. & Central), Traffic, Mumbai. It said that in order to prevent danger, obstructions and inconveniences to the public, it is being ordered as under.
The traffic police notification advised the motorists to avoid above said route between 06.00 hrs. to 12.00 hrs. Signage police Personnel will be present at various places to direct motorists/pedestrians to ensure that the least inconvenience is caused to them.
Locals and other citizens without Car Pass shall park their vehicles at the Kohinoor parking lot of BMC situated at J. K. Sawant road near Plaza Cinema, Dadar (w), Mumbai, the police said in its traffic notification.
