Pakistani nationals cross the Attari-Wagah border checkpost in a bus
Mumbai police said they have given exit permits to 17 Pakistani nationals living in the city to leave India in accordance with the central government's directives that revoked visas for Pakistani nationals, effective April 27.
The central government had earlier issued a âleave India' notice for the Pakistani nationals in the wake of the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22, in which 26 people were killed. The deadline for exiting India for those holding SAARC visas was April 26. For those carrying medical visas, the deadline was April 29. The deadline for 12 other categories of visas was April 27.

"The individuals have been identified and asked to go back. Action will be taken against those who are found in the Mumbai jurisdiction as per the foreigners act," said a police officer. "All of them had valid documents, and they were on short-term, long-term, or SAARC visas. Their documents had been thoroughly scrutinised," the officer added.
Police have identified 270 Pakistani nationals living in Mumbai city limits with valid documents. Meanwhile, the Ulhasnagar police have also identified 17 Pakistani nationals and issued exit permits to them. "A thorough research was conducted in the area and 17 people were given exit permits," an officer from Ulhasnagar police said.
Besides, three more Pakistanis identified in Navi Mumbai have been given exit permits to leave the country. "We have identified three individuals, and all of them have been given exit permits," said another officer.
