While the monsoon season in Mumbai usually begins in late June, the city has been experiencing unseasonal rains since last week. The unexpected pre-monsoon showers hit Mumbai on May 6 and continued for two days. The rain stopped briefly before resuming again on May 13. While the rainfall has brought respite from intense heat, this sudden change in weather can cause several health problems, ranging from viral infections to respiratory issues. Wearing weather-appropriate clothing and staying dry during unexpected rains is essential to avoid viral and skin infections
Focus on boosting immunity through a balanced diet. Focus on consuming fresh, seasonal fruits high in vitamin C, such as guava, oranges, amla and berries to naturally boost immunity. Always wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before eating
Use mosquito repellents and avoid stagnant water near the house, and in pots, pans, or cans to prevent dengue and malaria
Stay hydrated. Boil water before drinking to prevent chances of infections
Healthy lifestyle practices like adequate sleep and regular exercise can also help keep infections at bay
