Alia Bhatt landed at the Met Gala for the first time in 2023. The theme for the year was Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty, and the designer Alia chose was Prabal Gurung. Prabal shaped an iconic debut look for Bhatt as she wore a custom gown that was a homage to Karl Lagerfeld’s iconic bridal look for Chanel's autumn/winter 1992 collection. Alia completed her look with gloves, a soft face of makeup, loosely tied hair, and a bow made of pearls
Alia Bhatt made her second and most headline-grabbing appearance in 2024, when the theme was The Garden Of Time. Alia walked the carpet in a custom-made Sabyasachi outfit with an over 20-foot long pallu. The floral details on the dress draped like a saree were radiant and beautiful. As for the accessories, she went all dramatic in the Sabyasachi vibe. A curly hairdo and a very detailed face of makeup elevated the look
2017 turned out to be the year of debuts at the Met Gala as Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Deepika Padukone both made their debuts. Priyanka chose a Ralph Lauren dress inspired by their trench coat with a dramatically long train and became the talk of the town. The brown crisp dress is till date one of the most iconic moments of the event. The theme of the year was Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between
In 2018, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, in her second appearance at the Met, again chose Ralph Lauren for the theme Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. She wore an ethereal Madonna-inspired velvet maroon gown with detailed lacework and a lacework headpiece that brought so much drama. Priyanka was yet again a part of many best-dressed lists
Celebrating Camp: Notes on Fashion was one of the most talked-about Met Gala themes of all time. The year 2019 was marked with camp, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas again made sure she was the talk of the town as she went to the extreme end of being campy and how. For her third outing, she chose a dramatic Christian Dior dress with a messy hairdo, a dramatic crown, and a face of messy makeup, all coming together to define the very quirky theme
The year 2023 marked Priyanka Chopra’s fourth outing at the Met Gala, but also the most lukewarm one. While flaunting her expensive Bulgari jewellery, the actor opted for a black strapless Maison Valentino ensemble with a thigh-high slit and a bow attached. She chose a structured bun for her hairdo and a simple face of makeup
Deepika Padukone, who also made her debut in 2017, brought her take on the theme Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between. Deepika, for her first time at the Met Gala, wore a satin Tommy Hilfiger gown with a plunging neckline and backless detailing. For jewellery, she opted for drop earrings and a headband made of diamond flowers. While she looked beautiful, her look was labelled safe back in the day
In 2018, Deepika returned to the Met Gala for the second time with Prabal Gurung, who dressed her for the theme Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. She wore a bright red sculptural gown that resembled the robe. She chose to accessorize it with delicate yet dramatic earrings and a bold red lip. Completing the look with hair gelled back to create a wet hair look, the actor looked very impressive
In her third and final appearance (as of yet) in 2019, Deepika Padukone gave her best Met Gala look yet. The theme was Celebrating Camp: Notes on Fashion, and she brought the much-needed pink drama to the carpet. She chose a Zac Posen outfit for the day, a pink single-piece structured ball gown with dramatic details and an equally campy train. The 400 pieces of three-dimensional embroidery on the strapless gown were made from Lurex jacquard. She went for a high ponytail and bold maroon lips with vibrant eye makeup, completing the look
In 2019, Isha Ambani went to the Met Gala for the second time, and the theme was Camp: Notes on Fashion. The royalty went for a pale violet tulle gown by Prabal Gurung with a dramatic trail and volume. The gown, as per reports, took more than 350 hours to create and was hand-embroidered with crystals and ostrich feathers
In 2023, Isha Ambani, in her third appearance, also chose Prabal Gurung for the theme Celebrating Camp: Notes on Fashion. She opted for a black one-shoulder gown with a long silk chiffon train. The train had crystals and pearls embellished around it. Isha Ambani paired this with a lot of Lorraine Schwartz jewellery, but the highlight of the night became her Chanel doll bag designed by Karl Lagerfeld. The bag became the talk of the town
Natasha Poonawala attended her first Met Gala in 2018 and brought New York City to the Met stairs. Natasha chose Prabal Gurung as the designer for her first appearance. She wore a white gown with a bloom of colours all over it. It featured a corseted bodice and a graffiti-inspired New York design at the flared bottom
Natasha Poonawala returned to the Met Gala in 2019 and wore a Peter Dundas-designed ultra-blue ensemble. The body-con dress was paired with a large crystal belt and a crystal-encrusted halter neck. A draped pleated skirt completed the look
2022 was the year of Natasha Poonawala at the Met Gala, as the entrepreneur made it to every possible best-dressed list. She wore a custom Sabyasachi saree paired with a Schiaparelli gold corset. She paired it with dangling earrings and stacked up heavy jewellery
In 2023, Natasha Poonawala returned to bring drama with Schiaparelli, as she wore an all-silver dramatic gown with sharp edges framing her face. The futuristic look was paired with a sleek hairdo and a beautiful piece of jewellery that gave the look a new edge
