The Women Leadership Awards 2025
The Women Leadership Awards 2025, hosted by Bharat Dialogues, was held today at the India International Centre in Delhi. The event celebrated inspiring women leaders from across India for their courage, leadership, and contributions to society.
Mr. Upendrra Rai, Chairman, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Bharat Express, was the Guest of Honour at the event. In his powerful speech, he spoke about the challenges women have faced throughout history and how society must now move towards greater balance and respect.
"It may take 130 years for women to be paid the same as men," Mr. Rai said. "For a long time, women were forced to act like men to gain respect. But we must honor the true power of womanhood - wisdom, patience, love, and forgiveness."
He quoted Lord Krishna from the Bhagvad Gita, who had said that in women, he exists as glory, wealth, speech, memory, intelligence, patience, and forgiveness. CMD Rai explained that these qualities are the foundation of a better world.
Women through History
Mr. Upendrra Rai reflected on how many great thinkers had harsh views on women. He shared that even in the past, women had to fight for basic rights and respect. But change is coming.
"Muscle power once ruled the world. But now, the world values creativity, patience, and intelligence - all qualities that women have in abundance," he said. "In the coming 50 years, women will lead the world."
He also highlighted that most of the top Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems today have been developed by women, showing their growing role in shaping the future.
The Story of Bhamati: A Woman's Silent Strength
CMD Upendrra Rai shared the touching story of Bhamati, the wife of ancient scholar Vachaspati Mishra, "After marrying, Mishra dedicated 12 years to writing an important spiritual book and forgot all about his personal life. Bhamati supported him quietly without complaint, lighting his lamp each night. Only at the end did he realize her sacrifice and named his book after her."
